James Caird, Managing Partner

Having studied law at the University of Dundee graduating in 1985, Jim has been working in criminal courts all over Scotland since. He is a veteran of thousands of cases and court appearances having dealt with all types of criminal law from road traffic matters to murders. There's not much in the criminal court that Jim hasn't seen before.

Alexis McVicar, Partner

Alexis has worked at Caird Vaughan Solicitors for the duration of her career in law. She became partner in 2010 and runs the civil and family law department. Over the years she has dealt with various cases including contact and residence disputes, permenance cases and guardianship matters. She regularly conducts proofs in the Sheriff Court and also appears in Childrens Hearing matters.

Jane Caird, Partner

After studying law at the University of Dundee and graduating from the Diploma in Legal Practice in 2016, Jane became a trainee solicitor at Caird Vaughan. She qualified in 2018 and has predominantly dealt with criminal matters ever since. She appears in courts throughout Scotland on a daily basis. In 2025, she became a Solicitor Advocate allowing her to take instructions and represent clients at the High Court.

Billy Watt, Partner

After studying Law at the University of Dundee and graduating in 2007, Billy trained at a law firm in Dundee. After qualifying as a Solicitor in 2009 he has practiced in Courts all over Scotland. He is experienced in many aspects of court practice but has a particular focus on Criminal Trials. Billy became a Solicitor Advocate in 2025 allowing him to take instructions and represent clients at the High Court.
